One of the first things that strike me when I come to Kathmandu is how everyone seems to throw waste everywhere. As someone from outside the valley, I see Kathmandu as the nation’s capital where people are educated. Yet there are garbage dumps everywhere-along the river, next to homes and schools, under bridges. I began collecting garbage on the streets. Back in the studio I isolated each item and photographed it as I would photograph a commercial product. They say garbage is waste, until you recognize the value of it. Will Kathmandu see value in its garbage?
